join

When the extension cable disconnected from the lightning rod at the top of the clock tower, Doc Brown could only exclaim, “Great Scott!”

* * * * *

A fellow artist contacted me through my Facebook page and asked why I haven't been participating in the new Monday Artday. I explained that I have been otherwise occupied with my two other blogs and work-related activities, But, yesterday I had a day off from work and managed to knock out this homage to the greatest film ever made. I hope to contribute to Monday Artday on a more regular basis, but if I don't... you can always find me somewhere on the internet.

The Paint Mines in Colorado

Years ago I visited this spot.  It's so beautiful and multi colored but I chose to do a muted drawing for the theme "desert".

'Join!'

This week's theme is 'Join!'. Make a fantastic piece of art to display on your blog to let others now about Monday Artday... we need more members and participation!

Desert

I listened to the radio and Karima El-Mahrough alias "Ruby", when asked about the sex scandal with the former Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi, answered something like: الجمل دائما يرى سنام شقيقه ولكنه لم بلده, that means: "The camel always sees the hump of his brother but never his own." "That", she said, "is a proverb from my home country Morocco!"

Desert

This weeks theme is 'Desert' just because I love it so much :)

Loosely formed pattern

I hope this fits the criteria for a pattern.  This turned out okay but I had a hard time.  I have severe neuropathy in my hands from my cancer treatment.  So it makes it very difficult to work on my art.  It's such good therapy for me so I keep trying.

Pattern

This is my submission for "Pattern"! Its not a repeating pattern but it has a nice pattern to it that pleases the eyes.... I feel like if you can balance an art piece with a pattern then it improves it greatly!

Folk Art

I tried to do a portrait of Vincent van Gogh in a colorful, naive style. I hope it fulfills the requirements of Folk Art. Have a nice week everyone!

Folk Art with a medium I don't use much at all!

Okay, so this looks like a kids coloring book but I did take a sketch that I did in my typical style and translated it to folk art.   I used crayons.  I forgot that crayons have those nasty little crumbs that smear!  It took me a while to learn what to do about that.  It was very tempting to start over with something I'm used to but I toughed it out and here it is.

MAD Progress

Hello MAD members! I am not changing the theme due to a lack of submissions. I know we have had a pretty slow start but I'm not going to give up on Monday Artday! My work hours are changing very soon which will give me more time to invite more artists. In the mean time... invite your friends! Lets make Monday Artday the magical blog it used to be! :D

This Weeks Theme: Folk Art

Folk art defined: artistic works, as paintings, sculpture, basketry, and utensils, produced typically in cultural isolation by untrained often anonymous artists or by artisans of varying degrees of skill and marked by such attributes as highly decorative design, bright bold colors, flattened perspective, strong forms in simple arrangements, and immediacy of meaning.

flight

Amelia Earhart was the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. Her attempt to do the same across the Pacific didn’t work out quite as well.
