A fellow artist contacted me through my Facebook page and asked why I haven't been participating in the new Monday Artday. I explained that I have been otherwise occupied with my two other blogs and work-related activities, But, yesterday I had a day off from work and managed to knock out this homage to the greatest film ever made. I hope to contribute to Monday Artday on a more regular basis, but if I don't... you can always find me somewhere on the internet.

I listened to the radio and Karima El-Mahrough alias "Ruby", when asked about the sex scandal with the former Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi, answered something like: الجمل دائما يرى سنام شقيقه ولكنه لم بلده, that means: "The camel always sees the hump of his brother but never his own." "That", she said, "is a proverb from my home country Morocco!"

Folk Art

I tried to do a portrait of Vincent van Gogh in a colorful, naive style. I hope it fulfills the requirements of Folk Art. Have a nice week everyone!

Normally, I use my soft woodless graphite pencils only for my nude drawings to emphasize the line drawing before applying the watercolor. When I portrait someone, I just do a thin line drawing that you nearly cannot see anymore on the finished watercolor painting. So here I changed my habit and did a slightly different portrait using my 2B woodless graphite pencil.

renaissance

I was a fan of the progressive rock band Renaissance when I was in high school. The band, originally forming from former members of The Yardbirds, evolved into a band combining a rock base with medieval touches and mystical lyrics. They were fronted by the angelic voiced Annie Haslam. Haslam was trained as an opera singer and her soaring vocals became the focus of the Renaissance sound.
